Bond girls and that all important nudge

Dear Reader,

If ever there was an image to push you into fearing age, the Daily Mail’s coverage of Bond Girls (now in their 60s and 70s) will certainly give that nudge. Albeit more plastic and sag than Jordan’s left boob, their 20s/30s outlook was very much something to swoon – they certainly took risks to live their life (however controversial).

We all have our motive to travel, naturally a lot of them are tied with the essence of ‘trying and understanding something new’…but for me there’s  another underlying push to live, study and view the world, which is in fact the fear of ageing.

One day I’m not going to have the freedom to think solely about ‘me’ and this frame isn’t going to be quiet as flexible, able or comfortable with long-haul flights or a 5 day hike. In fact, it’s just about capable of dealing with all that now.

I wonder what your push is. My immediate reaction upon reading the Bond Girls article was to re-write and extend my travelling list. This, I’m told, should be completed before I’m 30 – before that heavy weight of responsibility kicks in. Better get booking that next flight then…

* The beautiful Bond Girl (woman) pictured is Karin Dor, now 74. Not bad Miss. Dor. Starring in ‘You Only Live Twice’ – hmmm.

  1. Believe me – that ‘heavy weight of responsibility’ will not stop you. When you are born with the wandering gene, you don’t lose it just because the years are mounting up 🙂
